EDUCATION
Surabaya Symphony Orchestra sincerely invites all the elements in the society to participate concurrently in providing
less fortunate yet musically talented Indonesian children with scholarship in order to develop classical music in Indonesia.
Introducing classical music from as early as possible to elementary students until high school students helps step up
the quality of our education before the world.

The followings are several participation categories for you to support in “We Care” program:

I. Individual
  1. IDR 250.000 commitment for 1 child for 1 month.
  2. IDR 750.000 commitment for 1 child for 3 months per level.
  3. IDR 1.500.000 commitment for 2 children for 3 months per level.
  4. IDR 2.250.000 commitment for 3 children for 3 months per level.
       And in return to the commitment, rewards will be given to the donor by Surabaya Symphony Orchestra in the forms of :
  • Donor’s name will be on the website on “Co-sponsor > Friends of Let There be Music” in accordance with the period of the commitment.
  • Donor will get merchandise from Surabaya Symphony Orchestra.
II. Company
  1. IDR 7.500.000 commitment for 1 class of 10 children for 3 months per level.
  2. IDR 15.000.000 commitment for 1 class of 10 children for 6 months per 2 level.
  3. IDR 10.000.000 up to IDR 40.000.000 in the forms of music instruments for 1 class of 10 children.

      In return of the commitment, rewards will be given to the donor by Surabaya Symphony Orchestra in the forms of :
  • Donor’s name will be on the website on “Co-sponsor > Friends of Let There be Music” in accordance with the period of the commitment.
  • Donor will get merchandise from Surabaya Symphony Orchestra.
  • Donor will get a number of the forthcoming SSO Concert tickets in accordance with the commitment chosen.

Why classical music education?



Classical music is the only kind of music that gains worldwide acknowledgement as “Art Music” or the Indonesian call it “ Musik Seni”, instead of “Seni Musik”. What is the difference? ”Seni Musik” is 1 of many other kinds of arts as carving and painting among others, that focus on aesthetics, while “Musik Seni” adds on the aesthetics the scientific factors as Mathematics, Logic, Philosophy, and Architecture, summarized all in one term “Theory of Music” and Musicology.

An irrevocable fact in all over the world proves that classical music is the only music that is studied formally and hence earning degrees from Bachelor, Master and Doctor. The rest of music, including all the genres, is entertainment or amusement music.
